Leasing an Audi from LetsTalk Leasing is simple, flexible, and hassle-free from start to finish.
When your lease ends, there’s no need to worry about depreciation or selling the car – you can simply walk away or lease another model.
In this article, we identify your options are after your Audi lease ends, how the end-of-lease inspection works, and what you can do to get ready.
What happens when your Audi lease ends?
Around six months before your agreement ends, our team here at LetsTalk Leasing will get in touch to discuss your options and to arrange a convenient time to come and collect the vehicle.
At this point, you can choose to do one of two things:
Return the vehicle and walk away
Take out a new lease deal
You may decide to take out a lease on the latest Audi model for 2026 or try a completely different car - the decision is yours!
Are there any further charges at the end of the lease?
At LetsTalk Leasing, we are completely transparent about costs.
If all the terms of your agreement have been met, there will be no further charges.
However, there are a few situations where extra charges may apply. Let’s find out what these are:
Outstanding payments (if any): If you’ve missed any payments on your lease or chosen to end your lease early, you will need to settle all outstanding payments.
Excess mileage charges: If you have driven more miles than agreed in your Audi leasing mileage allowance, you will be charged an excess fee for each additional mile.
Excess damage charges: If the vehicle is damaged beyond the non-chargeable fair wear and tear standards set by the BVLA, you may be charged an excess damage fee to cover repair costs.
What is the end-of-lease inspection?
After we have collected the car, our team will conduct an inspection to check its condition and verify the terms of the agreement have been met.
The inspection is carried out using a structured process that follows the Fair Wear and Tear Guidelines set out by the BVRLA.
These are designed to help leasing companies identify what is normal deterioration and what damage goes beyond reasonable use.
During the inspection, the following areas are examined:
Bodywork
Glass
Wheels
Tyres
Interior trim, and
The vehicle’s mechanical condition
If, during the inspection, it’s found that you’ve exceeded the agreed mileage, or the vehicle has damage that extends beyond reasonable wear and tear, you’ll be charged extra to cover repair costs.
How to prepare for the end of your Audi lease
To ensure that the end of your lease runs smoothly and to reduce the risk of receiving an excess charge, we recommend taking the following steps before your lease ends.
Explore new lease deals early: It’s never too early to start shopping around and thinking about which car you’d like to drive next. Leave yourself plenty of time before the end of your lease to compare cars and lease deals and find the best fit for you.
Check your mileage: As you approach the end of your lease, keep a careful eye on your mileage to ensure you don’t go over your limit.
Inspect the vehicle for damage: Make sure you know what condition the car is in before you return it. Check the vehicle’s bodywork for bumps, dents, scuffs, and scratches and check the windscreen, tyres, and seats for damage.
Fix minor issues if cost-effective: If there are any quick fixes you can get repaired yourself, this could work out cheaper than paying the charge at the end.
Clean the car inside and out: Make sure you’ve given the car a good clean, both inside and out. This is often the best time for spotting damage that you may have otherwise missed.
Gather documents and keys: Make sure you’ve got all the car keys and documents ready to hand back, to avoid a last-minute panic, including the car’s service history, MOTs, and manual.
